1. Introduction
Welcome to Studiq ("the App"), an AI-powered quiz and flashcard generator developed and operated by Hamza Benmalek ("we," "our," or "us"). Studiq is available on iOS and Android and allows users to upload documents, images, or paste text to generate personalized quizzes and flashcards.
This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, store, share, and protect personal information when you use Studiq. By using the App, you agree to the practices described in this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.
2. Data We Collect
We collect the following categories of personal information:
- Account information: When you create an account, we collect your email address and, optionally, your display name and profile picture. If you sign in via a third-party service (Google, Apple), we receive limited profile data from that provider as permitted by your privacy settings there.
- Uploaded content: Documents, images, and text you submit to generate quizzes or flashcards. This content is sent to AI processing services and may be temporarily stored to deliver your results.
- Usage data: Information about how you interact with the App — screens visited, features used, quiz scores, session duration, and in-app events. This data is collected in aggregate and used to improve the App.
- Device information: Device type, operating system version, unique device identifiers, and crash logs. We collect this to debug issues and optimize the App.
- Advertising identifiers: If you use the free tier of Studiq, Google AdMob collects advertising identifiers (IDFA on iOS, GAID on Android) to serve personalized ads. You may opt out of personalized advertising in your device settings.
3. How We Use Your Data
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide and operate the Studiq service, including processing uploaded content through Google Gemini AI to generate quizzes and flashcards.
- Maintain and improve your account, sync your study history across devices via Supabase, and restore purchased content.
- Personalize quiz difficulty and flashcard recommendations based on your study performance.
- Send you important notifications about your account, such as password resets or service updates. We do not send marketing emails without your explicit consent.
- Analyze aggregate usage patterns to improve the App and fix bugs. We do not sell individual usage data.
- Serve advertisements (free tier) through Google AdMob in compliance with Google's advertising policies.
- Comply with applicable legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service.
4. Data Storage & Security
Your account data and study history are stored on Supabase, a cloud database platform. Supabase operates servers in multiple regions; your data may be stored in the European Union or the United States depending on your account region.
Uploaded documents and images are transmitted over encrypted HTTPS connections to Google Gemini AI for processing. We do not permanently store the raw content of your uploads after quiz generation is complete unless you explicitly save a study set to your account.
We implement industry-standard security measures including:
- Encryption in transit (TLS 1.2+) for all data transmitted between the App and our servers.
- Row-level security policies on Supabase so users can only access their own data.
- Hashed passwords — we never store plaintext passwords.
- Regular security audits and dependency updates.
No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your information, we cannot guarantee absolute security.
5. Third-Party Services
Studiq integrates with the following third-party services. Each has its own privacy policy:
- Google Gemini AI — processes uploaded content to generate quiz questions and flashcards. Google Privacy Policy

- Firebase Crashlytics — collects anonymous crash reports to help us fix bugs. Firebase Privacy
We do not sell your personal information to any third party.
6. Data Retention
We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service. Specifically:
- Account data: Retained until you delete your account. Upon deletion, your profile and email are removed within 30 days.
- Study sets and flashcards: Retained as long as your account exists. Deleted with your account.
- Uploaded content (for AI processing): Processed immediately and not retained on our servers after quiz generation.
- Usage analytics: Aggregated and anonymized data may be retained indefinitely for product improvement. Individual event data is deleted within 24 months.
- Crash logs: Retained for 90 days.
7. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:
- Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Correction: Ask us to correct inaccurate information in your account.
- Deletion: Request deletion of your account and associated data. See our Account Deletion page for instructions.
- Portability: Request your study data in a portable format (JSON or CSV).
- Restriction: Ask us to stop processing your data in certain circumstances.
- Objection: Object to processing of your data for marketing purposes (we do not currently send marketing emails).

8. Children's Privacy
Studiq is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately and we will delete the information promptly.
If you are between 13 and 18 years old, please review this policy with a parent or guardian before using Studiq.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, legal requirements, or new features. When we make significant changes, we will:
- Update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
- Show an in-app notification informing you of the changes.
- For material changes, ask you to review and accept the updated policy before continuing to use the App.
Your continued use of Studiq after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
